This charpter focuses on the characteristic spectral form of the non-uniform refractive films, its influence on the spectrum, the solution of the optical constants and typical spectrum, and the relationship between the refractive index non-uniformity and the process.

The accuracy of optical constant fitting is very important for thin film design and manufacturing. If the optical constants cannot be accurately fitted, the thin film cannot be designed and deposited well. This chapter mainly introduces the fitting methods of common optical constants with software.

This chapter mainly introduces the calculation model of optical characteristics of optical films and the basic concepts of optical constants, including refractive index, extinction coefficient and dispersion, etc.
